INNOVATION, service and strong results in a challenging market. This is what led western suburbs real estate agency Mint Claremont to win one of WA’s major industry accolades – for a second year in a row.

The agency was named ‘Small Residential Agency of the Year’, at REIWA’s Awards of Excellence last Wednesday night, with its director Peter Clements also taking home the trophy for ‘Residential Salesperson of the Year’.

This follows the agency’s victory at the national Real Estate Institute Awards in Canberra in March, where Mint was named the best small agency in all of Australia.

With another win under its belt in the state-wide competition, the business secured the chance to defend its national title again next year.

Mint Claremont director Peter Clements said his team was still buzzing from the win.

“They are an amazing team, and I’m so proud of what we have achieved,” he said.

“The truth is we don’t aspire to have a full trophy cabinet – we aspire to be Number One for exceeding our client’s expectations. But it is a real honour to be recognised.”

These awards are particularly meaningful, as they are judge on excellent service, business acumen and expertise, rather than sales numbers. Regardless, Mint Claremont achieved incredible results last financial year, in what was an extremely challenging market.

This included:

  • Setting new ‘highest price’ records on 6 streets.
  • An average time on market of just 16 days (Perth average is 69 days).
  • Generating 4 offers on average for every listing.
  • Negotiating an average uplift of $171,159 (around 20%) on initial offers.
  • 86% of listings were repeat or referred clients.

The new mobile phone app ‘Openn’ played a key role in Mint Claremont’s results in the last 12 months.

Mr Clements is the driving force behind the innovation, which provides home owners across Australia with an alternative method of sale. The method is similar to an online auction but, unlike a traditional property auction, buyers are able to negotiate individual conditions with the seller before placing electronic bids.

“With a lot of negative sentiment in WA’s economy, Openn proved to be invaluable during the last year. Buyers took comfort in the fact they could transparently see the value that other buyers were putting on a property,” Mr Clements said.

“By bringing negotiations into a public realm, we removed any doubt they might be feeling about taking action in an uncertain market.”

Earlier this year, Mr Clements was awarded the status of ‘Grand Master Salesperson’ by REIWA, in recognition of his sales exceeding $53 million in the last financial year.
REIWA chief executive Neville Pozzi said the institute received a very high standard of nominations for the awards, providing a tough decision for our judges.
“On behalf of the Institute, congratulations to the winners and nominees of this year’s Awards for Excellence,” he said.

Peter Clements was recently awarded the status of Grand Master Salesperson at the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia’s awards. Out of thousands of agents across WA, only 18 other agents achieved Grand Master Status – a great achievement by Peter and the team at Mint Real Estate Claremont.
